Midnight Sun Celebration

Hi y'all! Over the past weekend, we have been real busy celebrating the longest day of the year! Every year, Fairbanks hosts of the biggest races in Alaska called the"Midnight Sun Run" which is a 10k run through town. It started at 10pm, and we probably got home around 12:30am. It was still light outside! It was so much fun because everybody just goes to have fun. Some people even dress up in costumes to run! We ran through lots of neighborhoods, and everybody was grilling out and having a good 'ol time. On Sunday, the Midnight Sun Festival lasted from 12pm to 12am to celebrate the longest day. It kind of reminded me of Reunion Week in Newton! :) We have now begun to lose a few seconds of daylight every day.
Tai and I had a good time celebrating our first anniversary. We went to the golf course, hit a bucket of balls and then went to eat at a restaurant called the Silver Gulch. We hope y'all are having a wonderful week!

This past weekend, Tai and I took a wonderful trip down to VALDEZ, Alaska to do some fishing. For military appreciation weekend, we got to go out on a charter boat to fish for halibut! We had such a good time, and I ended up catching a 70 lb. halibut fish! (It was kind of hard to reel in.) The drive down and back was gorgeous so we will definitely be making more trips down to VALDEZ in the future. Y'all have a great week!

On the way back.

We saw some killer whales! (but didn't get a very good picture)

That's a huge fish!

It was a beautiful day at sea.

As we were leaving the port of Valdez.

It took a 3 hour boat ride to get out to the spot where the fish are.

Bald Eagles were everywhere!

Tai and Mario ready to leave.

Getting ready to leave the dock to go catch some big "butts"

Seagulls at the end of the day.

They say it usually is cloudy here because they're on the water, but we got lucky and had beautiful weather. :)

This little otter was playing around in the water by the boat dock. He was so cute eating his clams.

We finally made it! VALDEZ, AK

Horsetail Falls

It was a bit chilly.

Bridal Veil Falls (coming into Valdez)

The bottom of Worthington Glacier.

A "floating" glacier on Mt. Billy Mitchell.

A Bald Eagle!

We saw a little caribou family by the road on the way.

I was trying to be a professional photographer. :)
This lake was still frozen over from glacier water.

The pipeline runs beside the highway the whole way.

The mountains were beautiful on the way.
